Buddy Schultz holds one NCAA pitching record. That means that for every college baseball game ever played in America, he achieved the highest total ever in a single statistical category. On April 3rd, 1971 Buddy struck out 26 batters against Wright State University.
In his career he pitched 187 2/3 innings, struck out 240 and recorded a 1.77 ERA. His win - Loss record was 17 - 7 he was a 3 year letterman and he was All Mid American Conference for 2 years. When his baseball career at Miami ended he held 5 Miami pitching records. In 1972 he was drafted in the 6th round and signed with the Chicago Cubs.
To date he still holds two Miami pitching records. His 26 strikeouts in one game is still an NCAA record and at Miami his 1.06 ERA in 1970 for a single season is still the best. He is still 2nd in strikeouts for a single season with112 in 1971 which also ranks him 10th in the Mia American Conference. He is still3rd for lowest ERA in a career at 1.77 and 6th in strikeouts in a career at 240. He is the only baseball player at Miami to hold an NCAA record. In October of 2010 Buddy was inducted into the Miami University Athletic Hall of Fame.
